Nervously excited to be one of @vk_gallery’s artists going to @freshartfair, Cheltenham, 26-28th April. Celebrating 10 years in business, Victoria, founder @vk_gallery, in her words, is ‘taking the plunge…exhibiting at our first art fair!’

What has helped re-energise your creativity? My last post was about starting sketching again (go see). AND, the other thing I did whilst I was away was a series of FREE online workshops hosted by artist @nicholaswilton founder of @art2life_world. It was a brilliant REFRESHER!

Delivered via video tutorials and Facebook live sessions, he covered the basic principles of art making - DESIGN, VALUE & COLOUR.

The key takeaway was about NEW EXPERIENCES in both our lives and our art (they are connected), and the differences between them that can bring more enrichment holistically. Nicholas was so generous in sharing his knowledge - I made A LOT of notes!

For me, this has definitely influenced my art making and my teaching process for my upcoming PAINTING WORKSHOPS 💚

Want to take your creativity somewhere NEW? I will admit my SKETCHING practice had been neglected, so I knew it was the perfect time whilst away to re-ignite my creative spark!

It did feel a little stiff and awkward at first, but just starting was all I needed. Observing, drawing a line, a scribble, splashes of paint…just responding to my surroundings.

🌿 TOP TIP - Small sketchbooks enable you to be discreet so you don’t have to feel self-conscious!

🌿 What I packed - a few sketchbooks (moleskine A4) and a tiny pad (this one has green pages!), some pens, colouring pencils, portable watercolour paintbox & a brush.

Where do you love to escape to? For me it’s always been the sea 💙

Well, I’ve had some time here to free my mind and nourish my soul 💚 I have immersed myself in the mesmerising vista of sea, coastline and lush flora…soaking up the tropical vibrancy... My sketchbooks and paints close to hand.

And, our daughter Yazzi joined us for part of our trip which was an extra special bonus! #familytime

For me this is my happy place to dream and create. Where’s yours?
