My Story

Hello and a warm welcome! I would love to share a little more of my creative journey with you.

I am a contemporary artist, inspired by the wild beauty of the natural landscape, which I believe brings nourishment, joy and peace to our lives. Living just outside the historic city of Cambridge, with my husband, daughter, and our border terrier, I work from a beautiful light-filled garden studio.

Inspiration for my work is found daily – from my walks with the dogs in the meadows near my home, to travelling further afield to the sea and coastline – I have always been fascinated with the ever-changing natural world around me. Exploring with all my senses, this is where my creative practice begins.

In the studio, the very act of painting is like a meditation practice as my mind becomes absorbed in the process. Painting predominately with oils, I translate these natural influences in an expressive way, using my visual memory and emotions to capture the essence of a moment in nature – to create a response, a feeling, an emotion. Building layers and textures with strokes of my palette knife I create movement and a sense of actually being there in the landscape. The collections of original paintings that I produce seek to capture a fusion of my vibrant colour palette, and a feeling of sensitivity with the viewer.

Developing my skills and exploring the painting process has played an important role throughout my creative life. From my student days at art school in Brighton, to more recently on an expressive landscape course in Cornwall, I have had the opportunity to experiment and nurture my painting practice with more fluid pieces of work.

My work can be seen at galleries and art events across the UK. I am represented by VK Gallery and The Wonky Wheel Gallery, Finchingfield. My clients include both private and corporate collectors including Addenbrooke’s Arts who acquired two paintings from my Spring 2017 collection for a new Treatment Unit at the hospital.

I am a member of Cambridge Open Studios, The Trove Cambridge and other local network groups. My watercolour work can also be seen in the highly acclaimed Cambridge Art Book.

I regularly host events from my studio, and welcome the opportunity to share my art with you in person. For full details of upcoming shows and exclusive subscriber offers sign up to my newsletter. I would also love to connect with you on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, sharing my creative journey through my posts and conversations.
