Went to the latest monthly meeting of CAM (Cambridge Arts Movement) at Williams Art the other evening. One aspect of being part of an artist collective is that we get together regularly to discuss art as well as more practical issues such as exhibition planning and publicity. Some of the previous meetings have involved individual artists within the group talking about their artwork and creative process – a sharing of ideas, views etc which is really interesting. This week we invited Penny to come and tell us about a new artists’ community that is setting up – Cambridge Arts Salon – with about 20 artists, crafts & designers. Their venture is a community arts venue where they have an exhibition space that perhaps our group CAM could hire and exhibit in. As we are both community based co-operatives there is definitely the opportunity for exchange. It all sounds very exciting what they have in the pipeline – need to go have a look at their space. Looking forward to the launch of their website and opening night in September. Will keep you posted on the latest.
